NOTES

John & Catherine Nunan must have arrived in Australia by 1843 or earlier as daughter Catherine(2) was born in Launceston in this year. Perhaps the family came via Tasmania or travelled to Launceston after arriving on the mainland. It is hard to explain how Margaret could have been born at sea c 1844 when Catherine(2) was born in Tasmania 26th Feb 1843.
1841 or 1842 would more likely be Margaret’s birth year, in which case the family may have arrived in Australia as early as 1841.  (Comments by Terry Nunan)

Some doubt as to the names of some of the children listed. John owned 80 acres of land which he farmed at Wallan Wallan. He sold this prior to his death to a John Laffan for 375 pounds. He also had 10 cows which Catherine retained.

John's surname is spelt Nunan on his headstone and Noonan in his will, dated 18 Mar 1872. John was illiterate and dictated his will to the school teacher.
